About Lindsey
The Troubadour collection is a reflection of designer Lindsey Carter’s southern upbringing and her life adventures thereafter. She cites three major influences in her life - the South, the city and the sea. Each come alive in the Troubadour collections…classic silhouettes with a twist, done in playful prints and a chromatic palette.
Lindsey discovered her passion for design and fashion at an early age. In high school, she designed her own prom dresses. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she continued her studies at the New York Fashion Institute of Technology. While at FIT she interned with contemporary designer Rebecca Minkoff, cashmere label White + Warren, T21 by Elie Tahari and LAMB. After earning her degree from FIT, Lindsey was tapped by J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler to join the start-up design team for Madewell 1937. After a successful stint with Madewell in New York, she moved to Charleston, SC and began to focus on her own career. In the spring of 2010, Lindsey completed her first collection for Troubadour which quickly garnered praise from WWD when she was labeled a “Designer to Watch”.
The Troubadour collection is available at Anthropologie, Rent the Runway, and specialty boutiques across the country. When she is not designing, she can be found out and about in Charleston enjoying time with her husband, 2 year old twins, and adorable French Bulldog Edie.
